First Electric Buses Hit the Road

Williamsfield Schools is excited to announce the arrival of our first six electric school buses, with two more scheduled for delivery later this fall! We are also excited to announce that seven of the eight electric buses will have been manufactured at the new Lion Electric facility in Joliet, IL! These new AM/PM route buses even come with Air Conditioning! All of the electric buses will be fueled by chargers from NUVVE, the global leader in vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. They will also be a functioning component of our own campus microgrid! These buses are designed with emissions-free propulsion systems to provide a clean and quiet ride for the students & drivers at Williamsfield Schools. The buses, charging stations, and microgrid components are being purchased with federal grant funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency and US Department of Energy. “To me, this is an opportunity for us, as communities, to position ourselves for future proofing and make ourselves communities in which people want to go, people want to work, people want to live,” said Tim Farquer, superintendent of Williamsfield Schools. The new electric buses will be fueled by solar energy produced on campus. Click the links below to view press related to the project.
